Deck builder in Fortitude Valley

Even in the Valley's dense grid there are terrace houses with room out back for a deck worth having.

What we do

Decks built to last.

A deck starts with a conversation, not a brochure. Ben Bernard quotes every job himself: he walks your block, measures up, and talks through what will actually work on your home before a price goes on paper. Then he and the crew build it. One point of contact from quote to handover, a QBCC licensed build, and a 5.0 star Google record across 39 reviews standing behind the work.

Deck work in Fortitude Valley is compact by nature. Terrace houses here back onto small courtyards where a low platform deck can turn leftover concrete into an actual outdoor room. Tight access shapes the build: materials often come through the house, so we cut to length off site where we can and keep the work area disciplined. On boundary-hugging blocks we detail drainage and edge clearances carefully, because in the Valley every centimetre is spoken for.

  • Engineered subframes for sloped blocks

Straight answers

Before you call.

The part of a deck you never see decides how long it lasts. We set out footings and subframe to suit the block, use structural grade posts and bearers, and fix boards with stainless or coated fasteners that shrug off Queensland humidity. Hardwood or composite on top, the same rule underneath: get the structure right and the boards look after themselves.

Should I choose timber or composite decking?

The honest answer depends on your home and how much upkeep you want. Hardwood like spotted gum looks the part on a Queenslander and takes re-oiling every year or two. Composite costs more up front, needs less looking after, and suits full sun. Ben talks through both at the quote so you can weigh the options side by side.

Do you rebuild or extend existing decks?

Yes. Often the boards are gone but the structure is sound, or the other way round. We assess what is worth keeping, replace what is not, and can extend an existing deck if the subframe and footings can carry it. If a full rebuild makes more sense than a patch up, we will say so at the quote.

Which areas do you cover?

We serve 36 suburbs across Brisbane. Our core turf is The Gap, Ashgrove, Bardon and Kedron, and we work across the inner north, west, east and south, from Paddington and Red Hill through to Bulimba, Yeronga and Upper Mount Gravatt. If you are close to any of those, call Ben and he will confirm.
