Renovation work is rarely one trade deep. Verandahs and decks off the back, new stairs, walls opened up, stumps and joists put right underneath. Ben has 12 years in construction and quotes this work himself, on site, so the number reflects the house in front of him.

Brisbane's older housing stock is timber to its bones. Queenslanders on stumps, post-war homes with hardwood frames, and the verandahs, sleep-outs and lean-tos added over the decades. That is the carpentry we do all day: structural work, timber extensions, and the finishing that ties old and new together.
